Avengers: Endgame Falls Below $ 1 Million at Box Office for First Time

Walt Disney and Marvel's Avengers: Endgame earned "just" $ 860,000 on Monday, which is 67% from Sunday and 82% from last Monday (which was Memorial Day). That brings the film's domestic cume to a still-ridiculous $ 816.6 million. It also means that the film's daily greatness is now under $ 1 million for the first time, on its 39th day of release. Avengers: Infinity War despite a 38% larger than $ 1 million today, but this is still the film dropping below $ 1 million a full week faster than Avengers: Infinity War despite a 38% larger opening weekend.

Or, perhaps the best way to phrase that is "because of a 38% larger opening weekend." When you start with an insane $ 357.1 million debut, you've just finished a bit of demand right off the bat. Avengers: Endgame (with a likely 2.4x multiplier by the end) and Avengers: Infinity War (with 2.63x its $ 258 million debut weekend)

The Last Jedi's 2.82x multiplier was actually low for a big Christmas opener. Jumanji:  The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey with $ 84 Million in 2012) Greatest Showman ($ 184 million) and a calendar did not take off. Last Jedi's second Monday. Barring a fluke, I'd still expect The Rise of Skywalker to be as leggy as Avengers: Infinity War if not The Last Jedi when it opens on December 20, 2019.


Marvel's Avengers: Endgame what's going to happen in the post-release competition (WB's Detective Pikachu, Lionsgate's John Wick 3, Disney's Aladdin, WB's Godzilla, Fox / Disney's Dark Phoenix, etc.). Conversely, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker only has to face (Jumanji 3, opening one week prior), Cats (opening concurrently with Star Wars 9) and Disney / Fox's own Spies in Disguise opening on Christmas Day. So if J.J. Abrams' "serious finale" plays to the fans and (more importantly) the general audiences, it should have been pretty smooth sailing through January. But back to Avengers: Endgame ...

The Dark Knight, The Jungle Book and Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle (41 days), Avengers: Infinity War, Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Spider-Man and Jurassic World (46 days), Wonder Woman (47 days), Black Panther, Frozen and The Avengers (53 days), Jurassic Park and Shark (55 days), Phantom Menace (61 days), Avatar 81 days) and Titanic (102 days). It's more than Age of Ultron and The Last Jedi (34 days) along with Rogue One (35 days) and The Greatest Showman (36 days despite a $ 2.4 million opening day).

With the chances of it passing. Avatar is looking at it, the MCU epic is running out of milestones. It will probably sell Jurassic Park ($ 402 million adjusted and $ 825 million adjusted) and Return of the Jedi ($ 307 million adjusted the $ 847 million adjusted), but that's as high as it gets on the inflation-adjusted list.in second place in North America (behind The Force Awakens), overseas (behind Avatar) and worldwide (behind Avatar).
